Well this is a surprise, MTV is set to launch a new online bingo site and they are going to be doing this with the help of the Dragonfish software platform and network. I find this a strange software platform for a network such as MTV to use, but who knows? Dragonfish tends to be more assembly-line type bingo site, but then again who knows what motivates folks. They are obviously hoping to appeal to the younger demographic as for some reason they believe this to be a relatively untapped market. I don’t know however, you should see some of the young players I have seen at sites like Tombola.
I also somehow don’t think that the promotions on sites such as the Dragonfish clones will appeal to the younger market, so unless they are prepared to offer MTV type promotion, I don’t believe they will corner a large portion of the market share. Operators looking to leverage their brands into the online bingo market place, don’t as a rule use this software, but perhaps this MTV contract means changing fortunes for the Dragonfish label. This is obviously MTV’s initial foray into a new growth sector, so perhaps using Dragonfish is a way of testing the waters, without too extensive a capital outlay.
What to look forward to with the new MTV Bingo; honestly, I don’t have a clue. Had they chosen Virtue Fusion as their network and software provider I could hazard a guess. However this is not the case and I truly hope in my heart of hearts that MTV does not launch with “Bingo Pays the Bills” and Meet Chica in London, (from 2007) like all the other sites, both old and new. One thing you can however be guaranteed of is a good bit of free bingo money, as for everything else, your guess is as good as mine.
